Blogging like a snail...

Posted by SmartLilSweetie at 08:44 PM on April 04, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Wait... so what happened recently?

OK this is what sucks about blogging like a snail... I have to do a HUGE recount of everything. Let's dot-point:

- There was this Fringe concert which I sung at. It was pretty awesome smile

- I did the kickboard relay at the school swimming carnival and failed miserably :p

- I planned for my personal project.

- I went on a music tour to the Riverland and missed Sports Day at school.

And yeah that's about it... we'll update again when the term ends, KK?

SLS Wise Quotes #1

"I hate this world very much. It's mad, horrifying, corrupted. It's filled with anger, fear, conflict, disappointment, despair, hatred. But I also love this world very much. It's beautiful, wondrous, amazing. It's filled with love, hope, peace, unity, friendship, happiness. If I had a choice to either leave all that behind and enter a new world, or to remain and continue life here, I would choose to stay, for I cannot get away with myself for departing this world before making any attempt to make it a better place."

10 reasons for the fall of Rome

Posted by SmartLilSweetie at 08:36 PM on February 14, 2009 Comments comments (0)

1. They conquered so much places that they ran out of conkers.

2. Their emperors weren't supercalifragilisticexpialidocious enough.

3. The end of the Ice Age.

4. The sky collapsed... (what?? No historical record of that...)

5. Virus-powered mosquitoes from outer space.

6. A meteor hit the Earth killing all the dinosaurs, leaving them with nothing to eat.

7. Because a water molecule is made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom (valid reason?)

8. They didn't have electricity.

9. Their clothing went out of fashion.

10. Most obvious reason: there was a hole, they didn't see it, so they fell into it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Posted by SmartLilSweetie at 01:35 AM on February 14, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you, regardless of if you have a Valentine or not! Sigh... my goal was to make him be my Valentine but... sigh... you see whenever I like someone I never have the courage to tell them... or even show my interest... (and damn I keep forgetting money for the cookie! Grr! >_<) Oh well, there would be quite a lot of chances in the future still so I guess a lonely Valentine's isn't all that bad! Oh yeah and thanks so much my bestie SM for sharing and spreading the spirit of vday yesterday! =D

Had quite a busy day today... first youth orchestra in the morning which finished at 12:30pm and then Chinese school that starts at 1:10pm! Craaaazy!! >.< Valentine's Day should be a day of relaxation don't you think? Chillin' with your sweetie or at least your besties? Grr... today was frustrating. The violin part we had to play in orchestra was like, 1000x more difficult than difficult. You see, my problem at the moment is that, when I practice by myself or in tutorials, I can usually play the notes just fine. But in orchestra I just seem to get out of time a lot and couldn't figure out the notation and finger positions and stuff, probably because the other instruments put me off a lot. Sometimes I just want to be a drop-out and go along with the flow (ie pretending to play as a part of the orchestra while just faking it) - that's the easiest option, right? But the morals and ethics I gained from my past throughout my journey of growing up until now tells me that I mustn't be lazy and that I should always be hardworking and determined - and sometimes I just get really stuck.

Same thing with Chinese school which is just boring... I could totally live without touching Chinese homework but since this is my last year there, I keep feeling that I need to make the most of it...

So here am I, stuck on a lonely Valentine's Day. Maybe this is just a part of growing up. Maybe many of you out there feels the same as I do. Wish you all a wonderful, happy, merry (?) Valentine's Day with flowers and chocolates on top!

My love goes out to you, Victoria

Yes, I know what nature has done to your land and its occupants.

The losses of people, old and young, killed by the roaring bushfires, some hiding in their homes, some on the way to escape, some helplessly stranded in high danger... and many with the best fire-escape plans.

Still they were unable to escape.

The whole nation is in mourning.

Your roads were blocked, your schools were shut down, entire towns were wiped off your map. There are still people whose lives are undefined. There are still people living in fear.

There are people whose hearts had been broken along with their hopes and dreams. There are people whose nearest and dearest had been taken by the disaster and are streaming with tears everyday.

Too many houses had been destroyed, leaving too many people homeless in struggling conditions. Too much damage had been done.

To many it just seems like too much to take.

But don't cry, Victoria...

For help is coming - not only from above.

But within you as well!

So many people have stood up to protect your towns and territories from the evil of fire. They proved their strength with their courage, persistence and determination.

So many people are doing their best to help you and your people go through this hardship. Many have made generous donations in order to repair the damage - and also to fulfil the broken dreams of many of your people.

And...

So many of us are empathising with you.

We're with you, Victoria.

We are.

And we believe in you and your people!

Remember how the whole of China got together after the 5.12 earthquake? Well that's exactly what Australia will do!

We are one

But we are many

And from all the lands on earth we come

We share a dream

And sing with one voice

I am, you are, we are Australian.

I am,

you are,

we are

Australian!

Blessings to you, Victoria. The same blessings go toward the victims of the Queensland flood who had been isolated from the outside world and lost their homes and towns. Remember: we're with you, and we'll always be!

Getting nostalgic at times...

Posted by SmartLilSweetie at 02:30 AM on February 07, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I just feel so nostalgic sometimes.
It's about a place that I have been growing up at from the age of 5 to 10.
5 years...
That area, from my old home on Trenton Tce to nearby Lindblom Park, had always been so vivid in my memory.
The greenery. The dazzling brightness of flowers after the rain in springtime. The sounds of birds chirping and raindrops hitting the roof rhythmically.
My own garden and my neighbour's gardens.
The landlord's colourful indoor garden.
The landlord's cat called Billy.
The old wooden playgrounds, one on either side of Dry Creek, flowing through my memories.
The sky filled with stars in summer night.
The golden colour of sunset showing subtly through the gaps between branches, thick with gum leaves.
The rocks settling in Dry Creek, which I always climbed on whenever I wanted to cross the river.
The tracks winding through peaceful forests.
The small, colourful lights shining silently on the Christmas tree by the house on the nearby street, when I went with my family for walks on quiet summer dusks close to Christmas time.
Going into the hills to watch the lights at Lobethal around the same time in the year.
Driving down to Tea Tree Plaza.
People walking their dogs, kids playing on the old wooden playgrounds in Lindblom Park.
Even the old sign in front of the park, which is now gone forever, enclosed only in my distant childhood memories, replaced by an all new sign giving credits to the Salisbury City Council.
Those can never go away. They're not allowed to.
Not in my heartwarming childhood memories.

A New Beginning

As I said. A fresh start to a brand new year has just begun. A great journey has just started. For me, and for all of us...

OK, OK, I admit I'm not a fortune teller and I have no idea what lies ahead of us in the year of our Lord 2009.0, but I definitely do NOT like this crazy confusing timetable for a start. At least most ppl in my tutor group are those who I like. At least my BFFs are in some of my classes. Oh yes I have an awesome teacher for the Journey (this program we have in year 9) this year, so I should have, um... should I say no fear? I'm still quite scared... this whole mixed emotions thing... but yes. Yes I am happy to be back unlike most kids. I love my school. I must say that it has the best students and best teachers. Sometimes I might not agree with its religious opinions, but I just feel - you know, so full of happiness - when I dash throughout the buildings and nice green areas of our schoolyard, when I listen to conversations and sometimes participate in them myself on our jam-packed school bus, when it's peaceful and quiet inside the library and I look up at the sewn poster reading 'God With Us'. It all fits together all so... perfectly. Friends. My class. My successful house team. My music. My... everything offered by this wonderful school. Its support. Its opportunities. Its encouragement. Its friendly, caring, helpful community. Its very own, very unique spirit...

Please, please, if you're reading this and you know that we both attend (or work at) this great school, agree with me!

I'm back - at last!

Sorry for the late post! Yes I returned safely from China. My pics of my travels in China and Singapore will be coming soon in a brand new section - My Albums. Meeting relatives, travelling around China, having lots of fun while missing my old life over here in Australia... and now that I'm back I haven't really done a lot of the jobs of unpacking, getting ready for school, connecting with old friends, etc... me lazy :P But all has been said, now my priority is to complete my 2nd grade music theory book and yes, get ready for school TOMORROW! Life is as crazy as it is...

While I'm at it I'll post my new school year's resolutions:

1. Face the new year with a positive, hopeful, optimistic attitude.

2. Change the habit of sleeping late resulting in getting up late the next morning, to avoid the breakfast-time rush
3. Study hard:
- When it's study time, it's study time. Focus only on schoolwork when doing schoolwork and resist the temptations offered by the Internet, comic books and other distracting hobbies.
- Read books and materials carefully and take notes for help with difficult subjects
- Have a more courageous and confident attitude towards sports
- Pre-plan and work hard for my personal project
- Participate enthusiastically in all activities included in the Journey program
- Continue to strive for best results in my best subjects!
4. Expand my social space: become more outgoing, make friends with more people, make myself welcome in the school community. Always be kind, generous and understanding towards other people
5. Be more aware of my personal appearance. Spend more time on neatness and personal hygiene
6. Live a balanced life. Cut down on junk food and drinks and increase on consumption of water, fruit and vegetables (especially green!) Exercise frequently. Gain at least 8 hours of sleep every day.
7. Music - strive for at least half an hour of violin practice per day! I have Adelaide Youth Orchestra, I have 2nd grade theory exam, and possibly 7th grade violin exam...
8. If there is any community activities, be actively involved. I aspire to make our world a better place!
9. Cut down on Internet time to make room for other fun, positive hobbies: reading, writing, drawing, etc.
10. Use limited Internet time wisely. Connect with friends, write down stories and story ideas in Word, program my website, earn more coins for my Pet Society pet Acacia without cheating or using the expanse of real money, visit fun, helpful and/or educational websites, and play games involving the brain (eg. maths, spelling and general knowledge games) Keep cyber-safe and do not make friends with strangers on the web. Ignore and reject any form of cyber-harassment.
...
Did I just write this for my teachers to read?? I'm already feeling lazy as I write this. Let me sleep 5 more minutes, I mean 10, I mean 20, I mean an hour, I mean I just won't get up at all today...

Packing away, getting into the Christmas spirit, etc.

Wait... did I even tell you I'm going to China with my family? No, I didn't. The thing is, I'm leaving tomorrow - yep, that's it! Christmas Day! So I'll be spending most of Christmas at an altitude of 9000m (or however high planes go) and being bored :P before landing in Singapore. And then IDK. Depends on how it goes I might manage to grasp a tiny bit of Internet over there and blog then. Otherwise no updates until January 30 next year. What else am I meant to talk about? Oh yes, Christmas. And yes, Christmas Eve is my mum's birthday, so we'd be heading out tonight. Which means, my MSN contacts, even if I appear to be online, from 6.00pm today onwards just pretend I'm not there...

Dang it! I haven't done anything for my family yet! Sigh... I've given cards out to everyone but them. Oh well, guess they'd be too busy packing to notice. And as for now I just might go and do a little bit of packing of my own. And the good news is that I can actually bring clothes that are PRETTY! Canton's not gonna be that cold ya know. 20 degrees Fahrenheit Celsius. Unlike my poor friend who is currently in China in the chills of negative 23 degrees and frostbites and yearning to come back to Adelaide! Good luck to him... and to you all! Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone! Enjoy your holidays... and don't forget school starts on the 3rd of February! Don't miss that day okay? (well, school starts for ME on that day... I don't know about the rest of you. Happy holidays anyway!) Have a wonderful, merry Christmas and a beneficial, happy new year! (stolen quote lol. Facebook stalk me if you're concerned about copyright policies, the one in Gold Coast! *lucky person*)
